Academy Awards 2009

I watched the entire show. It was so long, but very much worth it. I adore Hugh Jackman and loved all the changes made in the ceremony. I felt that the past winners commenting on the nominees really showcased their talents and made it much more personal. My favorite moments included Tina Fey with Steve Martin, Ben Stiller as Joaquin Phoenix, Kunio Kato saying “Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto”, and Kate Winslet’s father whistling.

As for the fashions of the night, my top awards go to Natalie Portman in Rodarte (um…duh), Anne Hathaway in Armani Prive, and Marion Cotillard in Christian Dior couture. Each dress was so unique with wonderful colors, textures, and details. Honorable mentions go to Evan Rachel Wood in Elie Saab and Tilda Swinton in Lanvin. Worst of the night? Beyonce, without a doubt. I won’t even post a picture.

  1. Usually like Tilda Swinton, she has a unique sexuality but that ensemble piece could have easily been worn by Dame Judy Dench. It’s hard to tell where her blouse ends and skin begins because of the coloring.
