And We’re Back!

Phew, well it’s been a minute. Remy caught a stomach bug early in September so we had to pause our baby led weaning endeavors for a couple of weeks. He was quite pouty during that time, sitting in his high chair, watching us all eat. As soon as I gave him some veggies last weekend, he dove right back in! And then literally dove into a box of French fries that I was eating…don’t worry, I only let him nibble on one!

Since he’s been back in action, he’s had a lot of avocado, fiber full wheat bread, peanut Bamba snacks, Greek yogurt, pasta e fagioli, tomato, watermelon, feta, roasted potatoes, pollock, salmon and chicken. Basically, if we are eating something, I like to offer him the same thing in a similar format.

He seems to really love fish so far (so he fits right in to the family) which is exciting. He also went a bit crazy for some watermelon during lunch today. For the most part he is spitting out food rather than swallowing it all but we are aware that some makes it through. He had a bit of a gagging episode today with his dad while I was in a work meeting but was able to work it out in the end. That’s totally normal as he needs to learn how much he can handle in his mouth and what to do if it’s too much. It takes time, practice, and patience. Definitely can be intimidating and scary though! Not sure my husband enjoyed the process today…

But here’s hoping we’re out of the stomach bug woods for a little while so Remy has a chance to make some good progress! Check out the meals section of this site for updated pictures and descriptions from this past week.
